Punit is Chairman of the Board of Deloitte LLP. He has held a number of leadership roles, including most recently as Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP. He led Strategy & Operations and Mergers & Acquisitions Consultative Services for Deloitte Consulting in the U.S. as well as for the global network, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu Limited (DTTL). In addition to chairing the Deloitte LLP Board of Directors, Punit serves on the DTTL Board of Directors.

Punit has set clearly defined roles for the chairman and board and specified annual goals for each of these responsibilities. Key roles include providing oversight of management's decisions and operations; delivering guidance on critical issues such as long-term strategy and risk management; representing Deloitte's partnership and creating transparency into board and management activities through open communications; and acting as stewards and modelers to help Deloitte's distinct culture, values and beliefs endure over time.

While Punit was Chairman and CEO of Deloitte Consulting LLP, the consulting practice experienced tremendous growth in the U.S. despite the recession, helping DTTL become the largest global consulting provider according to leading analysts' rankings. Along with his partners and directors, he guided Deloitte Consulting LLP to be recognized as one of "2010 Best Firms to Work For" by Consulting magazine and as one of the top firms in Vault's Guide to the Top 50 Management and Strategy Consulting Firms. Under Punit's leadership, the U.S. consulting organization focused on setting the standard for operational excellence, transparency, accountability, and uncompromised quality.

Punit has 25 years of experience with Deloitte. Throughout his career, he has helped clients in various industries address a range of issues, including merger integration, operations improvement, and corporate strategy. His clients have included large multinational organizations spanning the telecommunications, utilities, banking, pharmaceutical, and manufacturing industries. As chairman, he continues to be actively engaged in the marketplace, meeting frequently with leaders in the markets Deloitte serves.

Named a "Top 25 Consultant" by Consulting magazine in 2007, Punit has continued to build eminence for Deloitte. He speaks regularly with top-tier media as well as at premier conferences and business schools. Punit often comments on research regarding the attributes of exceptional organizations, including the importance of a well-articulated and lived workplace culture as well as a high-functioning board.

Punit was born and raised in India. He moved to the United States after winning a Rotary Foundation Scholarship to Willamette University, where he earned an advanced degree in management. He now serves on the board of trustees of Willamette University. He is married and has a son.
