As editor in chief, Jason Pontin is responsible for the editorial direction of the award-winning magazine Technology Review and TechnologyReview.com, published by MIT. Mr. Pontin also took on the role of publisher in September 2005, overseeing all aspects of the company's business, which includes: a rapidly expanding website; e-newsletters; international editions; and events such as TEDx and EmTech, the annual emerging technologies conference at MIT.

From 1996 to 2002, Pontin was the editor of Red Herring. He served as Editor in Chief of the Acumen Journal from 2002-2004, covering business, economic, and policy implications of discoveries in biotechnology and the life sciences. In 2006-2007, he wrote a regular column for The Sunday New York Times, "Slipstream," about new ideas in technology. He has written for national and international publications, including The Economist, The Financial Times, Wired, and The Believer. He is a frequent guest on television and radio, including ABC News, CNN, and NPR.
